Why TS Magazine Exists: Preserving Arizona's Underground Culture
From warehouse parties and forgotten flyers to the communities that shaped Arizona nightlife, TS Magazine was created to preserve the stories, culture, and history of Arizona's underground scene before they disappear.
There Are Moments That Define A Scene
Not the moments that make headlines. Not the biggest festivals or the most famous artists. The moments that happen in warehouses, afterhours, underground venues, and places that only exist because a community decided to build something special together.
The flyer someone kept for years.
The DJ who played before anyone knew their name.
The promoter who took a chance on a room that nobody thought would work.
The community that showed up week after week and helped create culture.
Those are the stories that often get lost.
That is why TS Magazine exists.
The Stories We Forget
When people talk about dance music history, they usually focus on the biggest events and biggest names. What often gets overlooked are the local communities that keep the culture alive year after year.
Arizona has always had a unique underground spirit.
Across every genre, from techno to house, drum & bass, trance, bass music, and everything in between, there has always been a dedicated community creating experiences for people who wanted something different.
Parties come and go. Venues open and close. Flyers disappear. Social media posts get buried.
But the impact those moments have on people lasts forever.
TS Magazine was created to help preserve those stories before they disappear.
My Introduction To Arizona's Underground
My journey into Arizona's underground scene began in 2009.
The first event that truly changed everything for me was a warehouse party put on by a promoter named Stellarwell.
Like many people who discover underground culture for the first time, I immediately realized this was something different.
There was an energy that couldn't be found anywhere else.
The music was louder. The environment felt more authentic. The people came from different backgrounds but shared a common desire to escape everyday life and experience something unique together.
I entered the scene as a Kandi Kid, but over time I became fascinated by everything happening behind the scenes. The artists, promoters, photographers, designers, volunteers, and countless individuals who worked together to make these experiences possible.
As the years passed, I watched Arizona continue to evolve while maintaining the community-driven spirit that made it special in the first place.
Building Techno Snobs
In 2016, Techno Snobs was founded.
Many people don't realize that Techno Snobs originally started as a sub-promoting brand under another promotion company called Unmarked.
What began as a small part of a larger movement eventually grew into its own community and identity.
Over the years, Techno Snobs expanded from a local concept into a recognized name within Arizona nightlife, producing events, building relationships across the industry, and creating opportunities for artists and fans to connect through music.
The journey introduced us to talented people from all corners of the underground. Artists, photographers, visual creators, vendors, production teams, promoters, and music lovers who all contributed something important to the culture.
What became clear was that every event has a story.
Every flyer has a story.
Every venue has a story.
Every community has a story.
And many of those stories deserve to be documented.
Why Arizona Is Different
One of the things that has always stood out about Arizona is consistency.
No matter what genre you love, there is almost always something happening.
Techno, house, drum & bass, trance, bass music, hard dance, underground warehouse events, large-scale festivals, intimate club nights—Arizona continues to support a wide range of experiences throughout the year.
More importantly, every event has its own vibe.
Different communities, different sounds, different energies.
Yet they all contribute to a larger culture that makes Arizona's scene unique.
That culture deserves to be remembered.
Moments That Define A Scene
Some moments become part of Arizona dance music history.
One that will never be forgotten was the opportunity to bring out Jeff Mills, also known as The Wizard.
Through collaboration, trust, and a shared vision, Techno Snobs and Walter Where?House came together to make something happen that many people never thought they would see in Arizona.
For many in attendance, it was more than just another event.
It was proof of what becomes possible when members of a community work together toward a common goal.
Those are the moments that shape a scene.
Those are the moments worth preserving.
